Posts from Unknown sender

Microsoft:

In the past couple of days, all of a sudden several new posts being made to
the Access newsgroups (microsoft.public.access,
microsoft.public.access.gettingstarted, etc.) display "unknown" as the sender
with a blank message. The messages often times have an answer posted, so the
original post was obviously available to other people who were not using the
MS web portal. What's going on?

Note: I can also see the original posts when accessing this newsgroup with
Outlook Express, which I have set to use the Comcast news server. This
suggests that for whatever reason the microsoft news server is not picking up
the original posts in many cases. This behavior just became apparent within
the past couple of days.

Hi Tom,

I'm using the "news.microsoft.com" server and I see no messages from
"unknown". I'm curious, what is in the subject line?

Tom,

There have been other issues reported in all the MS public news
servers over the last few days. There have been sync problems
and mystery posts just as you have observed. In some cases it
looks like a poster is just talking with themselves <g>.

I do believe MS is working on the problem and it is starting to get
better. Just have to be patient as MS takes a very large hammer
to their servers.

Jeff,

I concur, I just looked at "news.cox.net" and there is no trace of this
thread that Tom started.

Hi Jim,

The actual subject is shown. For example, in this post
(microsoft.public.access.gettingstarted):

http://www.microsoft.com/office/com...rted&mid=47343dae-a293-4914-8019-f23e25d7f260

I see the subject as "Basic newbie question about table layout". However,
the original message is blank. I can see the answer posted by Mike Revis.

Same thing with this post, made in microsoft.public.access:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/com...cess&mid=7c279e02-c678-4591-8dd6-c4f9836e0a91

The subject is shown as "RETURN in a string" from unknown sender. This
question is blank when viewed, but I can certainly see the answer posted by
MVP John Vinson.

Jeff: Received your reply while composing my reply. Thanks.
