POSTNET bar codes on labels

How do you insert POSTNET bar codes into a sheet of
labels? I created a "label" "New Document" so that I can
type different addresses on each label of a sheet of 30
labels.

I know how to define a label (with barcode) and print a
sheet-full of that label, but I want different addresses
on each label of the sheet.

I want to perform a function like WordPerfect's "Insert-
Other-BarCode".

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Jim,

Sounds like what you really want is to use MAIL MERGE to
bring the addresses onto the labels (and generate the
barcodes).

Hi, Jim,

Probably the easiest way to do this is through a mail merge. First you set
up a separate Word document with a table (or use Excel), one address per row
and with columns for name, street address, city, state, and zip code (and
column headings in the first row). Then go through Tools > Mail Merge, tell
it to merge to labels, and set up the layout of the text for the labels. As
part of the layout, you can specify that you want Postnet bar codes. When
you run the merge, the barcodes will appear automagically.

An alternative, if you want to type out each address in the label document
and avoid mail merge, is to insert a Barcode field on each label. When you
look up this field in the Help, you'll see that it can accept either the
text of the zip code or the name of a bookmark that encloses the zip code.
For one-by-one entry, directly typing the zip into the field code is less
work than creating a separate bookmark for each label and then entering the
bookmark name in the field code.

A third alternative is to use a Postnet barcode font, and apply that font
(preferably through a style) to a copy of the zip code. You can look at some
of what's available at http://www.adams1.com/pub/russadam/fonts.html.
