Or just 20 if you want :)

I done this really quickly straight off the top of my head as I know if I started thinking too deep I'd never make a choice.

My selections are very much of the time I was born into but I guess that's only natural.

If you guys want to contribute to this thread I'd be really interested to see what you like.

And yes, I know, 50 ain't enough but I figure with that number we should at least narrow down the real favourites.

Ok, here's mine (in no particular order of preference):

My choices are very much of their time.

Unlike most of my peers though I am keen enough to include stuff first heard in my later years.

Strange one this, I started this thread at another forum I'm on, concerned with Audio, mostly loudspeaker and valve amp building.

It has been a very popular thread, lots of music fans there.

Here, I'm convinced, music ain't that important.

C'est la vie :)

Why surprised over Massive Attack Mr Zed? It's a fine fine album.

And a little off topic but day by day I am quite pleasantly surprised at how good my home made valve amp is. I now have some substantial bass. The Cambridge amp plainly did not deliver.

Quite amazing really.

At this moment listening to Shalamar, Kool & The Gang; Chic and after that perhaps some Tom Waits.

Different sort of crowd I suppose..I will add my 50 to the thread tomorrow sometime...I have so much music I don't know where to start. I have boxes and boxes of viyls that i'd love to get onto my computer, only to preserve the vinyl thuogh as some are quite old. Still prefer listening ot things on a good record player though. You get a sound no computer in my opinion could ever replicate..

Au contraire... it's just that... "top 50"? So much good stuff to choose from. Plus, a substantial part of my list would consist of "non anglo stuff"... or be... ahem... just plain weird otherwise.

:p

But... looking at your list, these would certainly be in mine:

7) Astral Weeks – Van Morrison (plus Irish Hearbeat)

9) Zuma – Neil Young

10) Hot Rats – Frank Zappa

11) Rain Dogs – Tom Waits (and every album BEFORE Rain Dogs)

21) Seventh Sojourn – Moody Blues

33) Hank Williams – Best Of

47) Morrison Hotel – The Doors

49) Santana – Third Album (plus - herecy, I know - Marathon)

Thanks for response folks :)

Here's a post from another forum I take part in, kinda self-explanatory really:

Dave The Bass said:
Post your compilation lists Tone, I still think you're Mr Super-cool You were DJ-ing when i first saw 'Here and Now' at the Saxon Tavern, Low Rider was the track you played before they came on. I've still got the bootleg :)

DTB

I am Groovy, I am Cool, oh boy. Oh yes, old too :D

Ok, here goes.....

World Exclusive! Compiled by noted halfwit and part time village idiot Mr F Bootstomp a stunning collection of music hitherto unavailable as one package.

Available from Ronco as a limited edition 10 disc individually numbered coloured vinyl holographic autographed box set with a free tri-colour sweat band included with the first 100 sold.

Stunning value for just ten of your English Guineas, just click here to order now.

Alternatively available as a whole bunch of mp3’s on one CD for 50p at your local boot sale.

So, DTB asked, I will oblige.

Ten so far, more in the pipeline. Started in 2007, activity for this ‘project’ is somewhat lax at the moment.

To me, every track here segues perfectly with the next one but that’s cos I like them all. They certainly wouldn’t fit in with any radio station’s playlist. Well, not unless they managed to resurrect John Peel anyway.

I’d also be surprised, pleasantly, if any individual here was familiar with and liked all of the tracks listed. As mentioned, this is very much a personal choice and I sincerely DGAF about any criticism cos that’s just the way I was programmed. And to be honest, music from my formative years I’m always going to like, I think that’s the same for everybody.

After years of playing recorded music to please other people I thought I’d put together all my favourites, even those ones I should really be ashamed of liking but have to admit to myself I really like, so here goes:
