post item to mail folder without sending mail

In the back of my mind I seem to remember a mechanism whereby it was
possible to post an entry to a Outlook mail folder without sending a
mail message. Was there such a mechanism or am I losing what's left of
my memory?

Thanks! Wow, if you don't use a feature for a long time you (I) forget
