Post Hotfix (4/13?) Problem

I recieved an update notification and downloaded/installed
the hotfix from a few days ago. After restarting XP hangs
when I try to access the Start Menu, IE, or the Taskbar.
(The taskbar was set hidden before the hotfix, now I can't
change back.)Also, I can't browse My Computer.

This is making it difficult to uninstall the hotfix since
I can't access Control Panel or any other application.

Anyone else have a similar problem or idea what this could
be?

Found the solution.

Looks like there was a confilict between the new version
of Symantec AV I installed over the pre-loaded version
that came with the computer.

I booted in safe mode and was able to disable the AV
startup files and uninstall both AV apps.

Reinstalled the updates and AV and everything is OK now.

Still, I wonder if the hotfix conflicted somewhere in all
this because everything was fine until I did the most
recetn hotfix.
