Possible bug in Word 2003

When I go to Page Setup and adjust the margins and select Default, it only
holds the default value for this session. The margins will stay at the
default for every document I generate. If I close down Word and reopen it,
the default margin settings change back to the original settings and do not
stay at the default settings that I specified.

Am I doing something wrong or is this an actuall bug ?

1. Do you have "Prompt to save Normal template" checked on the Save tab of
Tools | Options?

2. If so, are you being prompted to save the template when you quit Word?

3. If so, are you saying yes?

4. If you are not being prompted, do you have Acrobat 7 installed?

Suzanne,

Thank you for your fast response.

The 'Prompt to save Normal Template' is checked, but it is not asking us to
save the template when we exit. We do have Adobe 7 installed and we turned
off the Adobe Tool Bar. That didn't help. So, what's next ?

Thank you so very much in helping us out here, I really appreciate it !!!

Ordinarily the margin change would be saved to the Normal template for
future documents, but Acrobat 7 has a bug where it tricks Word into thinking
the Normal template doesn't need to be saved on quitting because no changes
have been made. However, you can get around this by holding down Shift
and clicking File | Save All after making your changes. Save All will also
save the Normal template (and it will appear in the File menu if you were
holding Shift when you clicked File).
