ports 6881-6889?

how to open the ports of 6881~6889 , as my friends told
me to open these ports if you are using bt torret for
downloading media files.
is it save to open these ports?
and how to open these ports using program zonealarm pro?

Open ZA. Click on the "Firewall" tab on the left. Under
"Internet Security Zone" click "Custom". Scroll down
until you find the type of access you need for the port,
i.e. incoming TCP, outgoing UDP, etc. Highlight the
kind you need and a box will open at the bottom where
you can enter the ports you would like open. Make
sure the box on the type is checked.
