Porn popups and shortcuts added to desktop at start up

For some reason something has been installed on my computer, and it's addingmore and more shortcuts on my desktop for porn websites and what not, as well as changes my default website to some other search engine.

I checked out Add/Remove Programs and didn't see it there, as well as checked the "Start Up" too, didn't find anything in there. Where and what did I download, and how can I get rid of it

Any help would greatly be appreciated... thank

If you did a search here on that subject you would of saw a lot of
replies...plus my own reply.

Had this problem too...just get cwshredder...free at
www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php
It's under view all categories.

Fixes it easy...never had a problem since!
It does the job. :)

PS: Reason you got it..is because you or someone on your PC visits ***PORNO
SITES*** like i do.. :)..they are still nice to visit...LOL

What does the "remove" link at the bottom of the web page do?

Greetings --

When visiting such the sites be careful not to download/install
their "free" viewers. ;-} To repair the current situation, uninstall
the "viewer(s)" provided and then use Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de
and SpyBot Search and Destroy from http://security.kolla.de/ to clean
up any residue. Both have free evaluation versions.

You should also try using MSConfig to see if something is being
started each time you reboot.

Additionally, Look in the C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up and C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up folders, and in the
system registry, primarily in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.

How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP
