I subscribed to puritysolutions.com,to rid my computer
from porn.Guess what!,I received more than ever.This was
a microsoft add to me. What a joke.Microsoft is about
making money,not about us stupid people,all they want is
there money,so Bill Gates can get richer.If we can put a
man on the moon,or put a missile in Saddams living
room,these guys can delete spam,they dont want
to.Stopping some lowlife from sending my kids porn,is an
easy fix!It is money for them.How come I cant respond to
a spammer? Oh, yes i can but it is blocked.Why cant i
block them?? There a lot of honest people,on line,but
what gives the idiots the right to invade us.Go for it
hackers,give them hell!!You can do it!!

I feel your pain, but the web site was probably a ruse to
get your email address and details.

It was not a Microsoft ad, anybody can and does say
Microsoft, from the virus writers to the pornographers and
casinos.

If you want to rid your computer of porn dialers, spam and
spyware you can get help with dome free software from two
sources that are highly recommended.
AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com and
SpyBot Search and Destroy from www.security.kolla.de

Those two free programs, combined with an up to date
anti-virus program should most of the bad stuff that will
hurt you. To get rid of pictures and movies you may have
downloaded, search your computer for jpeg (jpg) and mpeg
(mpg) and avi files, use the thumbnails view to see what it
is and delete the stuff you don't want to keep.

Be sure to run a firewall, either just turn XPs firewall ON
or better yet, get Zone Alarm from
www.zonelabs.com because it will detect any program
trying to connect in or out from your computer and ask you
if you want to allow that to happen. If you have a Trojan
Zone Alarm will warn you because it will say something is
trying to access the Internet. If you did not instigate
that you can assume it might be a hostile Trojan. There can
be legitimate programs that seek Internet access on
schedules, but they should say what they are, such a Acrobat
Reader looking for an update.

followed by pop-ups & links. Only mention of
'Microsoft' was in Titlebar which is there in every IE
window.

Apparently u dont get ur facts straight.

delete spam" ..or we can cure common cold or get
universal health coverage or teach my cat to heel
or....ANYTHING. The contradiction doesn't imply some MS
deviousness but rather that all problems are NOT
technical. SPAM is subjective 4 1 thing.

I'm no fan of MS but dislike inaccuracies & silly
'reasoning' even more.

Any advice given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS. Personal attacks, nitpicking & criticism
of anything but content will NOT be responded to. Those

Are you getting spam from Microsoft?

Are you trying to figure out how to set up filters in a Microsoft product?

What was a "microsoft add" [sic] to you?

If you want to block spam, get a "throwaway" email account (like Hotmail,
Yahoo, Mail.com, etc.) and ONLY use that one when you sign up for things.
Use it (instead of your cox.net) address for newsgroups. Put a spam block in
your reply ([email protected]? Change it to (e-mail address removed) or
something similarly fake.) Ony give your *real* address to friends/family
or places that you absolutely trust. You'll still get some spam, but far
less.

I think you are uninformed. First, if you are receiving spam (porn) email
then you have given out your email address to websites when you shouldn't
have. Just like here in this newsgroup you have listed what appears to be a
legit email address. Do you not know what newsgroup bots can do? ALWAYS
include a spam line in your email address!

You cant BLOCK someone from sending you something because you were unwilling
or just naive in basic (very) basic internet security.

I'm a big MS critic, but this one isn't their problem. Its user ignorance.

I'm not an MSFT "fan" but I concur with a lot of other
people here..this is user ignorance. There are commercial
products than can filter emails, even Hotmail can detect
spam (and that'a a free MSFT product/service).

Spend a little time on Google or other search engine and
you'll soon find a product that'll help you out.

A couple of other tips...make up an email, I always
register stuff using the address (e-mail address removed).

Ever consider Message Rules ? You can create lists of wanted emailers and
email subjects by entering AS THEY APPEAR in incoming mail, then entering
them in rules with the *not* option and option to delete at the server. I
cut my spam out completely and now only receive wanted items.

How can you possibly blame Microsoft because _you_ deliberately
subscribed to a porn scam? Microsoft has no control over your
gullibility. If _you_ cannot be bothered to learn how to use your own
computer responsibly, perhaps you should donate it to the charity of
your choice. (After removing your porn, that is.)

By the way, if you care to post back with an accurate, rational
description of your actual problem, if any, and the events leading up
to it, someone might be willing to offer help.

You're right about the lack of sympathy, though it has nothing to
do with anyone's feelings towards Microsoft.. The OP's "plight" is
entirely self-inflicted, and has _nothing_ to do with Microsoft, other
than the coincidence of the OP using a Microsoft product.

People who cannot take responsibility for their own actions
shouldn't be allow out without adult supervision.

Get SpyBot and run it, turn on the immunization, and check out what your are
