popups

OS: Win XP Pro
Only stsrted today. While on web I am getting a page to sportbook and
occasionaly pogo open. POPUP. I have made no changes or installed any new
software that I know of. The only thing that has happened reccently is that I
did get a message that google toolbar had updated itself the day before this
started happening. Does anyone have any syggestios on how to stop this? Any
help will be welcome. Thanks

Is WinXP SP2 installed?

There is a program that I use called Windows Defender free from Microsoft
that will block pop ups. However it is still in beta release so you may or
may not want to take your chances. It has worked well for me. Let me know
if this is helpful.

YES WinXP SP2 is installed. All updates are installed.

Are you running IE7 RC1? If not, is the IE pop-up blocker enabled (Tools >
Pop-up blocker > ...)?

If you uninstall Google Toolbar (are you sure it wasn't Yahoo toolbar?),
does the problem persist?

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

forums for expert analysis, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Thanks to all of you gentlemen. I unistalled Google toolbar and that seems to
have resolved my problem!
