If it's something you installed recently, you could try System Restore back
to a point before. Otherwise it will be the long-haul of regedits to salvage
the day.

regedits for a not that sophisticated user? come on now. Could be
dangerous.

Yep, extremely dangerous. So dangerous, it might even work.

So what does he change?

Well I suppose startup entries would be the first port of call eg under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

plus the startup folder.

But I'm still holding out hope for the System Restore option.

What about installing and using Autoruns.exe? It's free at Microsoft.com.

My main problem with it is that it shows way too much info - but it does
have a search function.

Autoruns lets you find an offending startup item and uncheck it or even
delete it.

Good suggestion. Let's hope the OP gets it, although the lack of response
thus far is a little worrying .......

Nir Sofer does a simpler start-up program, but after using Autoruns it seems a bit tame!
