What kind of text box; what kind of combobox? Which version of Word?

If these are from the Controls toolbox, and are in a word document, try
searching my name on the msdn website for my article on using ActiveX
controls in Word documents. That should give you the basics you need for
"talking" to the controls via automation.

Note that the more appropriate group for programming questions would be
any of the word.vba groups. This group is primarily for end-users :-)
