popping speakers

I've got an NVidia NFOrce2 onboard soundcard with a
creative labs 6.1 speaker set up. The speakers have a
habit of making a large popping sound while the computer
is on. I've isolated the speakers from the PC and do not
think they are the problem, I've also reinstalled the
sounddrivers, checked and rechecked all connections, and
fiddled about with all the settings until I've run out of
options. Is this a problem anyone else has dealt with?
Anyone have any ideas?

It happens to me sometimes, and it usually happens when
the volume on my computer is too low .. make sure the
volume on your computer's volume control are near or at
MAximun, and lower the volume from the speakers that
you're using .or if they dont have a volume knob ,than
just turn the volume down on the program that you use to
play audio .. that might help.

I have had the same problem. I didn't realize until
yesterday that microsoft windows updates had two
downloads to supposedly fix the problem. Well I
downloaded both patches but still have the same problem.
I have tried to email microsoft but it is like trying to
talk to someone at the phone company through an automated
system, you can never get there. Try the updates @
microsoft maybe they'll help you.
