Pop-ups cause IE6 to crash

When a pop-up window occurs, IE6 says an illegal operation has been
performed and it must close. Then it asks to send an error report to
Microsoft. This did not happen before installing IE6 and only seems to have
begun happening after relatively recent update. Unfortunately I can't say
exactly which one. I do not run any apps to prevent pop-ups but IE still
should not crash when one occurs. How can I fix this? Thanks.
