I am having 2 problems first one I unable to open pop up windows - I have
checked all the pop up setting they are all clear - PS I don't mean
automatic pop up I mean things like help menus that pop up (They appear
briefley then disappear)

2nd problem is I am getting an error message on boot up it is "CMICNFG.CPL
error loading file not found" what is this for?

Thanks in advance

but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.

Hi Vincent,

I dont have a sound card - the sound is on the motherboard. I have searched
my hard disk (including hidden files) and the file does not exist on my
system hence the problem loading it - how do I get rid og the error message?

I have checked my start up menu and I can't see any reference to it

Thanks Geoff

Having it on the motherboard is no different to having a physical card -
you still need the drivers for it. First you need to check if the chip
on the motherboard is a C-Media one. Try looking in the Device Manager
(Right Click "My Computer" ==> "Manage" and open the Device Manager
sub-tree) and see if you can identify the sound "card" from there.

If it is a C-Media card you may need to get a new driver from the
manufacturer's site and install it.

Do you know the brand of your motherboard? The MB manufacturers may also
have an update for the chip.

Cheers,

Cliff
