pop-up cell text box

Tony

It has been more than two years since I used this
capability; note that this is NOT a label or comment
attached to cell, this is when you move cursor over cell a
pop up text box appears - I previously wrote instructions
in the box for description defining the proper entry into
that cell. This same text will appear in that annoying
office helper character when it is active.

I cannot find anything in Excel Help to even remotely
remind me of how to do this. I do not believe it is
a "hyperlink" or even a "field", although I'm not too sure
about the "field" guess... I cannot remember how to enter
or edit these comments!!! Please help!

Although you discounted it in your message what you are describing is a
comment. Right click on a cell and select insert comment. Add your
instructions and you have exactly the functionality you are looking
for.

Best regards

You didn't ask this question, but since you find
the "office helper character" an annoyance, get rid of
him! I don't like him either. Right-click on him the
next time he comes up, choose options, and remove the
check mark from "Use the Office Assistant" (the very first
check mark).
