I had a pop up ad zapper and every time I used my spybot removal probram,
the zapper was deleted from my machine.

Not the answer to your question, I know, but an interesting aside.

There is no built-in popup blocker in Windows XP. If you have
been using a third-party program, nobody can answer your question
if you don't tell us what it is.
