Poor quality in final film

I have used Divx to convert a DVD made from old Super8 movies. The format is
in .avi.
I have used WMM to create my own movie, adding sounds in the form of music
and speach. When looking at the result in WMM it is fine.
My problem is that when I create the final movie the film quality is
extremely poor.
I have used the option 'best quality'.
Who can give me some tips what I can do to obtain good quality when saving
the finalresult to my disk?

For best quality you need to use show more choices and then pick dv-avi from
the drop down list.
