my XP home machine is running slowly, I can't figure out
why.

I notice that in the root directory c: there are some
weird files, wonder if it's a clue. None of the files has
an associated application.

There is a file called out.dat, modified w/in the last
month.
Other files are:
s2rk.3
s3ls.3
s3vo.3
s12k.4
and so on, about 15 files with numerical suffixes...

There is also a directory, apparently created last week,
called Y (with an accent mark over the Y). It's empty.

Is this normal, or can anyone help my understand if it
represents a problem?

Many thanks,
drew

I run Adaware 6.0 on all my machines. If it's adware, AA
doesn't pick it up.

Thanks tho.

just to be sure, i just scanned with AA 6.0. The files
are still there.
