Greetings Mandy,

Port 6901 has not been used for Messenger audio functionality since Messenger 3.x, and as
such, will have absolutely no effect on your problem (so you can remove that).

In order for this to work, your router must support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). Most
modern Linksys routers do support UPnP, but you'll either need the latest firmware for the
router (available at http://www.linksys.com/download) or you may just need to switch on UPnP
in the router configuration. Note that after switching UPnP, you will need to completely
close (Right-click on the Messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and choose
Exit) and then restart Messenger.

thank you jonathan for your reply i called up my cable
co. and the technician doesn't seem to be aware of the
UPnP and after much frustrations on both of us he decided
to open every single ports on my line he insisted hackers
wld not be able to get in too easily cos i'm using
wireless but that aside ... i did tried voice on msn with
my fren and it worked !!! helluja .. BUT >>>> after our
second convo my fren invited me to do the whiteboard
thing on msn messenger and that's when i got back to
square one :( ... i get back to the exact same problem as
i'd b4 on and now we hafta get back to voicing on yahoo
but goshhhh voice over msn was sooooooo clear i wish my
fren hadn't clicked on that whiteboard invite .. any idea
why i'm not able to voice again even though all my ports
are opened ??!! i mean every single port !! and i'm not
sure when u say configuration on my router u meant
something that's my cable co.'s dormain or is it a config
on my pc ? i did looked under >My computer< but i didn't
see anything on UPnP so plzzzz jonathan help me out again
cos we were able to voice so beautiful till the
