Plug & Play failure to install

Have Win XP Home and a Sony DCS30 digi camera, that when
i originally conneceted to pc via USB port was recognised
and i was able to extract pictures. Now i can't and this
is the same with another usb digi camera, a usb flash
drive and a usb card reader. XP makes the sound to say
hello found new hardware and that's it.

I have obviously changed something somewhere. Has any
body any ideas.

Please let me know.

Are you trying to connect all these USB devices all at once... or are you
saying that you are connecting them one at a time (makes a big difference as
far as power required)....

Is this connecting to a USB port onboard the motherboard or an external USB
hub...and if hub, powered or unpowered?
