Thanks to everyone who replied. I guess I focused too much on the SAN disk,
but that was helpful to know.'

The overriding issue is I cannot start the computer with the PNP service
enabled (and as such all its dependencies). The computer never stops
booting and the CPU is maxed at 100%.

The question becomes, is there any way to remove/reinstall the PNP service
or should I just blast the computer with the factory restore CD?

The latter seems to be the "elephant gun" approach to solving this...I'm
just not sure.

Open your BIOS and disable the motherboard's Plug & Play.
