plug-and-play event logging?

My laptop periodically makes the sounds associated with device
disconnect and reconnect, but does not display any "new hardware"
messages. I am almost 100% sure that this is from a USB device that is
losing signal and then reconnecting, but am unable to track down which
device.

I have looked around but cannot find any event log messages for this
stuff, and enabling the system audit messages did not seem to produce
any messages either.

Is there a special log file for this, or a way to capture these events
in event log?

Thanks for the help

Anybody have any ideas here? There must be a way to enable logging of
plug-and-play events... Microsoft could not have developed the OS
without the capability.
