Hello, my problem is this ...

(I am using O2003)
I need to set up a rule that will reply to all incoming emails with a
"template mail" and then forward the message from that account to another
person's account.

I have set up the rule and internally it works fine (if they select the
email account name from the GAL) but when someone external to the company
sends an email to that address they do not get the "template mail", though
the forward part of the rule works.

Can anyone please help me?

Your Exchange administrator has apparently set the server so that it does not allow automatic replies to the Internet.

Thanks Sue, I will ask him to change the setting on Monday.

This may sound silly but will it be obvious to him where the setting is? I
know that sometimes these things can be in obscure places!

Thanks again for the prompt reply :-) Emma

Hopefully it will be obvious, but it's going to depend in part on the Exchange version. If he can't figure it out, point him toward the microsoft.public.exchange.admin newsgroup.
