Plotting Non-Consecutive Dates

Arlen

I am trying to create a Monthly Production chart with the
following criteria...

Two Series:
Series 1 -- Actual production per day
Series 2 -- Target production per day (linear, from 0 to
some number based on how many days the office is open
during the given month)

The Y-axis is dollar amounts...so far so good.

The X-axis should be the dates we worked, non-
consecutive. Typically, it's Monday through Thursday of
each week. When I highlight the dates column, actual
production column and target production column, and then
create a line chart, it automatically imposes 6 series on
me, plotting the dates on the graph rather than using
them to label the axis. I've done this successfully with
other charts using a Jan-Dec column for the axis labels
and one other column of numbers for the graph, but this
one just won't go. Basically, how do I force a column to
be the x-axis label rather than a plottable realm?

Thank you very much,

Arlen

Add labels at the top of the columns that contain the Y data, and keep
the cell above the dates blank. If necessary, select the cell and press
Delete. When you select the range to chart, include the top row with
blank cell and labels. The blank cell indicates to Excel that the first
row and first column are not just normal Y data, but special.
