please wait while closing outlook.exe

when I got to close down for the day, I get the
message "please wait while closing outlook.exe". I can
click on "end task", but there must be a way of fixing
this.
 
Could it be that Outlook is trying to Syncronize in the background? This
can take along time to complete depending on how much needs to sync.
