Hi,
yes I've searched the newgroups but no good answer was found.
This is what happens:
We have a small peer to peer network with 3 win 2000, 2 win xp SP2 en 1 win
95 PC. The pc we access the most (store of files) is win 2000. I've just
upgraded from 98 tot XP.
Browsing in 98 was a breeze compared to XP.
It just is generally slow. But is gets really annoying when I try to access
(open) a file after closing, saving a file (to the win 2000 pc). First
explorer won't be visible for some ten seconds then it's visible but I still
get the houreglass from some 10 seconds only then can I open another file.
So when I quickly want to change something (wrong written name,..) to a
bunch of files I can take a pee after every correction.
As I said I did my best to find out wath I could do:
1. http://www.ss64.com/nt/slow_browsing.html discribes my problem very well.
But I could not find such entree in register.
2. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=320138 . Did not help.
3. http://v2.tlab404.com/articles/detail.asp?iFaq=316&iType=16 .Didn't help
also.
4. We are not using multimedia files
5. I don't thin ik's malware
As i gather it's a real common problem, many questions about it on this
newsgroup.
Yet few good answers.
Many thanks to any help.
You're wonderful.
