Hi
I need urgent help..
I'm running windows xp pro.i got a AMD Athlon 2200 Xp
512 DDR Ram....

I was running 2 Hardrive and a cd burner and everything was working
fine....but i got a DVD Burner over the weekend and
after i installed the program i used was nero 6.6 ...
After i install when i restart my computer it says Disk error and i cant do
much...i cant even re install windows i cant create or delete partitions i
cant do anything..... i thought it could be the hardrive so i got another one
and it was running fine...i reinstalled everything and restarted it twice
after installing some programs it was all working....after i tryed to install
nero 6.6 it was All good until i restarted and gave me the disk error...

What should i do???
i told the computer shop about it and they told me it could be the RAM or
faulty IDE cables but i changed both and only works if i take out the DVD
burner fully and reinstall Windows.......PLEASE HELP
The Dvd butner is set as Slave adn the cd burner is set as master... is that
ok......
THANK YOU

Did you read the instructions that came with the DVD burner? Did you replace
the CD burner or is it still installed? Maybe a conflict. Follow the steps
as instructed and do not take shortcuts.

Did you check how you plugged in your IDE cables? If you set the DVD-ROM
(Which I wouldn't just out of preference, though I doubt it matters much) to
slave, then it has to be on the slave pin connector on the IDE ribbon. One
end of the ribbon connects to your motherboard, while the rest of the
connectors go into your devices. The connector on the very opposite end of
the one plugged into the motherboard is the master connector. If there is a
connector in the middle of the ribbon, it is the slave connector. Make sure
you have the right connector plugged into the rightly set device.

Now adversely, if they are both on different IDE ribbons, then setting that
DVD to a slave is incorrect and may also cause an error. If it is on the end
of an entirely different ribbon, it will be a master as well.

Good Luck
