please help with system restore.

I'm running xp pro. Have 2 kids playing games and trying their best to crash
xp.
I had been running out of space on my xp partition which in turn made my os
delete a lot of restore point. My problem is that somehow all of my documents
disappeared and I would like to retrieve them. I have used a file recovery
program and found a few restore point files that I believe can restore my os
to the point where I can get my documents back. My question is how do I go
about doing that. Where do I place these files to make sure they are an
available time option when I run system restore.
The only restore points available right now go back a few days only.

Please help me with this problem. Your help is appreciated.

The XP system restore does not affect files, it is not useful for restoring
deleted documents.

your statement should probably state "I let my children play with my
expensive computer that had
all my valuable files on it because I wanted to see if they could screw me
up. Now that they have I
just don't know what im gona doooo, boo hoo hoo...."

Maybe since costs are irrelevant to you, it might be worthwhile to hire a
tech to
come it, look for your lost files, create a backup/recovery system and set
up you pc to be "childproof"

Otherwise, you might try to simply "search" for thos files manually and if
they still exist. If they are
word documents, then the search criterian for files would be *.doc Use this
to find other files that
you are missing too.

Afterwards, get your kids a NINTENDO instead......

For those who answered my post with helpful suggestions, I thank you.

For the idiot who had nothing but negativity and condescending input, you
know what you can do with your comments. Such a loser. I paid $4000 for this
pc 3 years ago and its worth less then 500 now. As far as not caring about
costs, I would not trade one of my kids’ finger nails for all the money in
the world. If you have something constructive to say, say it. Otherwise crawl
back into your hole and stay there.

Your files are not backed up by system restore. Even if your restore points
are valid, it would not have backed up your documents. You should invest in
and use a good backup program, such as Norton Ghost, or Norton Save and
Restore.

certainly, i was not suggesting you trade in one of your kids

but when it comes to children, one needs to be one step ahead of them.
and it sounded that you were but failed to take the appropriate action.
and then you wanted someone else to pick up the pieces

daddy's have to make the right decisions, even
if it means that the kids feel that you are being the negative one....

sorry for sounding negative,
however, i was my intent to be objective....
