please help with renewing IP address!

hi I recently upgraded to service pack 2 and now it says
my network connection is very low or none at all. I
tried to repair the connection but it says that it can't
get an IP address from the system administrator. It's
set on automatically detect settings and I know the line
is good because I put other laptops on it that worked
fine. I also ran a adware program afterwards and I think
that jacked something up. Can someone please help me?
