I had windows 98 and when i used it to watch a movie or
play or had my son play a video game, there would be a
lot of lag. Originally it was not like that but started
happening after a while. When i upgraded to xp it seemed
fine and after a few days when i ran norton anti virus
and downloaded the virus definitions it found a sound
blaster worm, so i quarantined it but now once again
there is sufficient lag, when i watch movies, go on the
internet, or listen to any music. I have a nVidia
graphics card. Could someone please help me?

first go to the norton web site and get instructions how
to completly remove the worm.
then get rid of norton! its a real resource hog!
go with mcafee or sysgate.

The problem with video is that the computer must be tuned up to prevent
lag. Use Disk Defragmenter to defrag and HD. Video wants as much
contiguous free space as possible so that the HD is not hunting all over
for parts of the file. Before defragging, run Disk Cleanup to remove
temp and temp internet files, then defrag.

Video also demands about the most from the system and cpu of any
computer activity. This means that programs running in the background
or other activity must be minimized, particularly for a slow, upgraded
system. Start/Run command/type: msconfig...[enter]/select Startup tab.
Review all the startups and uncheck the ones that are not strictly
needed. Use this site to identify what the startups do:
