please help - recent patch issue

this is a question from a total computer illerate. a couple days ago, i
installed the most recent microsoft patch (my computer automatically tells me
if i have updates, and asks me if i want to install them). so, i followed
the instructions (I think), and it installed. it then rebooted my computer,
and ever since then my screen is all messed up. by messed up, i mean it is
very grainy and i have trouble seeing anything other than text (web pages,
screen saver, backgrounds, etc. can anyone help me?

You probably need to download and install an updated display driver. Check
at the web site of the system manufacturer, or the video card maker.
