Please Help Jonathon

my computer completely freezes (no mouse movement or
keyboard or ctrl alt delete etc i can only reset my
machine) when i attempt to open a conversation window or
maximise a conversation window or if it sruvives that
maybe 1 or 2 minutes into a conversation, msn messenger 5
worked fine, and msn messenger 6 works fine so long as i
dont attempt a conversation. im running windows xp pro
with all updates and my machine appears to meet the
requirements to run. ive tryed reinstalling, formatting
my computer all with no luck any ideas would be greatly
appreciated,

You may just need a video driver update (there may be one at
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com, click 'Drivers' after scanning, otherwise you'll have to
go hunting). However, does Windows Messenger work (Start, All Programs, Windows Messenger)?

Thanks for the hasty reply, msn messenger 5 works fine
and so does windows messenger 5, my video card is an
older card and there are no driver updates available.
What else could it be?

Hi M.,

Unfortunately pinpointing this exact problem could be a problem, although I have heard of it
before with MSN Messenger 6. Out of curiosity, what video card do you have?

Hi,

A previous person with this problem also had the same video card. I'll look into it further,
but you'll just have to stick with the previous versions for now.
