Please help ive lost everything!

Ok yesterday i plugged in my ipod shuffle straight into my usb and a
message came up in itunes about wanting to copy the files to the
library and i said no. The next thing i get a message saying i need to
restart my computer.

When it restarts i got a blue screen saying to press f10 to (cant
remember the exact name) ... but it totally wiped my computer and
reinstalled windows xp. Now i have all the same icons, but dont have
use of word,excel, ect.. and all my files in 'my documents' are gone.

I tried to go into system restore but there is no bold date to click
back to... please dont tell me ive lost everything. I dont understand
how this all happened just by putting in my ipod.

Sounds like your ipod was infected with something. Had it been plugged in
somewhere else?

Did you have the windows XP cd in the drive when the blue screen came
up? If so, then I hate to say it, but its user-error.

Hi Jemma,
Several questions (1) is this XP Pro or Home ? (2) do you have to logon with
a password, (3) When you say it reinstalled XP how long approximately did
that take?

Could you open Windows Explorer and on your boot drive, which is probably C:
, go down the list until you come to Documents and Settings-click the + sign
to expand it. You should now see some folders such as Administrator, All
Users and one with the logon name you use for the PC. Can you confirm you
have these folders and tell me what they are called?
