My first problem occurs when when i start up my laptop
windows xp, it shows the blue family logon screen with
the small windows logo and it says that windows is
starting up and it stays like that for a long time.
please help me. i am really stuck. My computer started to
do this after I removed novell from the control panel-
networking-properties-select novell-uninstall. My 2nd
problem is every time that i turn on my computer i get a
window that says "failed to log on as system
administrator, please make sure that the password and
domain are correct. How do i fix it so i dont get this
prompt.

The problems you are having are because this laptop was part of a domain
and is still trying to log into that domain. If you got the laptop from
work, you should take it to your IT Dept. and ask them to help you fix
it. Otherwise, boot into Safe Mode and add a local user account and
change log on options. If this is too complicated, take the laptop to a
good local computer repair shop (not a BestBuy or CompUSA type of
store) and have them fix it. They will probably want to see some sort
of proof that you legitimately own the laptop.
