PLease help! Cannot install or uninstall Cisco VPN Client

J

Jason

My Cisco VPN Client stopped working and I tried re-installing it. I am
now stuck in an infinite loop where I cannot uninstall or install the
client.

When I try to install the client, I get a message saying, "The Cisco
VPN Client installation has detected that an MSI based Cisco Systems
VPN is installed. Please uninstall this cleint before continuing with
install."

When I try to uninstall the client, it tries to find a
"vpnclient_setup.msi" which is not on the install disk and my work's
help desk does not have...they are stuck on this issue as well.

I have Windows XP 2002 (SP 2). Any suggestions is appreciated. I have
already tried a System Restore and that has not fixed the problem.

Try removing any entries for the Cisco VPN Client using the Windows
Installer CleanUp Utility. There's a download link on this web page:

Thanks Steve. That did the trick! I had actually tried the Installer
Utility before and did not have success. However, it did work this
time and was able to remove the Client and then re-install it. Now I
cannot access my network at work, but I feel that this issue can be
resolved by our help desk people.

Thanks again!
