I have a router, and 3 computers networked with cable. Recently switched an
old computer for a new Dell. Network is pinging, but doesn't seem to hold a
connection. I use Yahoo and it's bobbing in and out. ISP says it's not
them. The router is DHCP enabled, and so are all three computers. All
computers are set to ask for IP automatically. I've been told by someone
that DHCP should not be enabled on the computers, just the router. Is this
true and how would I disable? Also DNS is enabled on all three computers.
Should it be? I'm sure the protocol for the network is TCP/IP. I sincerely
apologize if this is a not-brilliant question. I have been reading helps for
1/2 hr and can't seem to get a simple yes or no on these settings.
