is DirectX 9.0C included in WinXP SP2. i got 8.1 and no service packs on my
comp.

in order to check it. follow the instructions:
1. click on START
2. then click on RUN
3. then type "dxdiag" and press ENTER or click OK
4. then check the version and reply to my message.

yes winxp p2 installs Direct X 9.0c, latest version of Direct X, to my
knowledge, all updates are the latest versions as of release date in all
windows xp components,
