Please answer my sites and services questions!

Hello all. I am quite confused. I have a parent domain and 6 child domains
all connected with private leased lines. Whenever I dcpromo a machine in a
child domain up to be a dc, it only sets up a replication link with 3 of my
9 servers.

Is this correct? Should it replicate with all 9 of the dc's? The 3 DC's it
establishes a rep link with are all global catalogs. I have went into Sites
and services and set up a manual rep link for every DC to every other DC in
my domain tree. Is this necessary?

You should provide more information on your sites configuration. Normally
replication within site is generated in two way ring formation with no more
than three hops between any server. Sites are replicated though Bridhehead
servers that is designated on every site.
