playing slideshow on DVD

I know this question has been asked a million times but I can't find a
straight answer anywhere (and I've been searching this newsgroup for
days). I have made a slideshow with movie maker 5.1, I have saved it
as DV-AVI and then I burn it onto a cd with Nero. The cd that results
will not play in my dvd player or my computer. When I explore the cd
it appears that it is empty. Can anyone give me some suggestions?
Keep in mind, I am a beginner! Thanks

Windows is 5.1, you likely have Movie Maker 1 or 2

Your DV-AVI needs to be converted to MPEG1 to be a VCD (on CD media) or
MPEG2 to be a DVD (ond DVD media)
