Playing musical chairs with drive letters

I place the W2KPro install disk in the CD and reboot the Dell Dimension
T7000r. The computer gives me a choice to load Windows on C Drive (20
Gig) or D Drive (4 Gig). I choose C Drive (the 20 Gig).

The install disk does all of the setup tasks---When Windows is fully
loaded and operating independently, I open my Windows Explorer (File
Manager) and discover that the 20 Gig drive is now D and the 4 Gig
drive is now C. So the computer is running from D Drive. That is
incorrect and unacceptable---and I can't find a way to change the drive
letters back to their proper assignments.

How do I force Windows to accept my choice for C Drive?

Sounds like you deleted/recreated the partition during text mode portion of
setup.

Disconnect the 4gig drive before you start the install. Do the same with any
card readers/usb devices also. Once install is complete [and will be correct
since it doesn't have a choice] reconnect the devices.
