My PC has 3 Hard Drives ........but one of the drives is only 'detected'
occasionally when I start my PC, most of the time, 'My Computer' only shows
two. When all three drives are detected, all work fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions why this Hard Drive appears to be playing
'hide and seek?'
The first thing I would check, is to see if all your drives are connected
properly. If you are unsure how to do this make sure you do some research.
*IMPORTANT - Static electricity can ruin circuit boards*. If you are sure
that they are connected, check them again. Test your cables - make sure all
of the IDE cables are working seperately. Another thing I would look at is
whether or not all drives are in the same PC. If they are, then your problem
might be in the BIOS setup. Your BIOS mostly likely has IDE(drive cable)
settings as to which is the primary drive, secondary, etc. Contact the
manufacturer for info on your BIOS. Check your BIOS to see if your PC comes
with primary/ secondary slave features. If they are not all in the same PC,
it could be a network problem. Try using the map network drive feature under
the Tools menu in the Control Panel window.
