Players stop my Internet connection

Hi,

I have this problem for couple of month now. If i use any kind of media
player (Winamp, DivX, WinMedia) or any application that uses some sort
of media (ie. Cubase) my internet connection stops. It's particularly a
problem for watching streaming videos (YouTube or QuickTime) as the
video stops loading as soon as the player starts playing.

Reinstalling WindowsXP doesn't bring anything (did it 2 time with
different CDs). WiFi or cable, same problem. This happens on my desktop
computer. I have a notebook too, getting the internet from the same
router, and no problem there.

The connection starts again as soon as i quit the running application.

Praying didn't help neither. So i turn to you, unknown friends of the
internet.

Hi,

Have you tried connecting this problem PC to just the cable modem to see if
the problem occurs when it is connected without the router?
It sounds like a DNS or DHCP error
(try Start>run>CMD
ipconfig /flushdns

Are you running a firewall on this PC?
