Plaxo Damage Control

Has anyone tried installing Plaxo, removed it, then had
problems accessing their Personal Folders (.pst) file?

I had Outlook 2000 (v. 9.0.0.2711) working perfectly for
one of our employees, using a password protected .pst
file. He installed the Plaxo service, then removed it.
Now, whenever Outlook starts it prompts him for his
password, but won't take it. He gets a message saying the
server is not available. We've never been setup on a
server of any kind for our email (besides our ISP's of
course), so I'm baffled.

During setup, he used the SAME password for Plaxo as he
did to access his .pst file, so there should not have been
a conflict there.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Even something as simple
as a way to bypass the password protection on the .pst
file would be suffice!

Thanks in advance,

Terry,

I'm one of the engineers who wrote the Plaxo plug-in for Outlook. We haven't
had any other reports of this sort of problem, and given that we don't
change any user/mail/password settings, it seems unlikely that Plaxo caused
this. In the other newsgroups, I have noticed some other (non-Plaxo) Outlook
users having this problem and the recommended solution is to make sure you
can reach your exchange server (if you have one) or to make sure Outlook is
not trying to connect to one (if you do not have one).

We have a lot of Outlook expertise in the company, so I'd be happy to help
you track down this problem. Can you send me a screenshot of the error and
any other info you have (to: todd at plaxo dot com)?
