Plain text document

I recently saved a word document in plain text in error, and now I can't
figure out how to retrieve the word document.
All I keep getting is pages of squares.
V frustrating
Please can anyone help me?

Try opening it in Notepad and then copy and paste the contents back into a
Word document.
