Please note, CutePDF and PDFCreator are virtual printer drivers so

I would like to nominate EDXOR for consideration. (requires seconder)
It's a must have for cryptoheads working with passwords or having privacy
concerns.

"EDXOR is a versatile, convenient and optimal text editor and file
processor that far surpasses the capabilities of other Notepad-like
applications. It offers innovative clipboard handling, cryptographic
options and logic text conversions, great for education, fun, or privacy.
EDXOR is small, self-contained, dependency-free and very fast. It provides
over 90 menu items, including many unique functions and options, for
diverse applications."

Seconded; there are a number of functions unique to Edxor that I use quite
often.

From the homepage:

PDFCreator is a free tool to create PDFs easily from nearly any
application. With the PDFCreator Printer driver you turn any program into a
PDF-machine

PDFCreator is released under the term of th GPL (GNU General Public
License).

PDFCreator offers multilingual support, so anyone who wants to contribute a
language can edit one text file and enjoy his own language. Every language
that is sent to me will be included in the next release.

Thanks nightfishing,

I've been using Edxor as my default notepad for a while now.Works great!
Loads large text files fast. I like the toggle between font sizes; one for
reading text (large fonts) and the other for viewing my firewall log (small
fonts). It has so many options that are unique I'm still discovering more
all the time.

Anytime I need a clickable link in a text file I'll open the file with
Metapad but other than that I use Edxor almost exclusively for working with
notepad text files.

The Text Editor Review page by REMbranded (see PL2003 INFO page) has
info to aid in evaluation of text editors. The direct link is:

I like it too, it handles large files where Editor, Metapad and Editpad
Classic all load large files very slowly.

Gary, were you able to download the manual?

When I click on the website chm manual, I see a page of code, after d/l
and saving it as the chm file, it is invalid.

The author has no contact link. I'd like the manual as it looks like
Edxor will be my default text editor. I assume Ver. 1.6 is the current
version.

Advice?

Try with a right click on the link and then select the option 'Save
link as ...'

Hi ms,

Same thing happens to me when I try to open the .chm file online. I'm using
Netscape and sometimes Netscape does things like that.

The suggestion by rir3760 - right click and "Save link as..." - works for
me to download the help manual to my computer. Sometimes my Win95a balks at
opening a .chm file and I have to turn on the mic and whisper sweetly into
the mic to coax it to open. The manual really is necessary to begin to
understand the unique functions.

The latest version of the program is 1.63
The latest version of the manual is 1.6

Thanks to Gary and rir3760.
That was it- I first looked at it in Netscape 4.79, but the page must
have been coded for IE. In IE, "save target as" works fine, all the
other useful programs on that page now work, too.

Crimson Editor is a lot neater and has a better syntax recognition than
those text editors.

Is ExamDiff a version of WinMerge
(http://winmerge.sourceforge.net)
but for pay instead of for free, and closed source
instead of GPL ?

I guess this is good for people who would rather pay,
and have support, and not get source code -- maybe there are
a lot of corporate customers who fit that bill ?

I ask because the history seems to show the features of
WinMerge showing up a little later in ExamDiff, which is pretty
entertaining.
