I used to work for Mobil, and was trained under the Mobil system - that
is, they load some software on your computer and leave you to figure it
out. Therefore, I have no *training* in Excel, although my peers think I
am a wizard.

In my line of work, I get to process mailing lists that some poor
deluded person entered into Word or another text-processing application,
and they send me:

First Name, Last name
Number, Street, etc
City, State, ZIP
Phone
FAX

or similar.

I was hoping there was an automated way to File|Paste
Special|Values|Rotate each "paragraph" to get it into an Excel workbook.
I use Excel for small databases. What I read in Help was very confusing,
but I guess that's par for the course. A brief orientation would be
gratefully appreciated.

Hi,

try saving the word document as a csv file and import into excel.
you should be able to use commas, etc... as delimiters when importing and
therefore allow you to split the data up.

hoep it works

you know, if I weren't subject to linear thinking, I could have thought
of that! I do a certain amount of that already, but I think I could edit
a text file easier. many thanx for the suggestion!
