Hi,

I have a database that consist of the records with the followin
fields:

1. Name of the country
2. Year
3. Parameter 1 name
4. Value

As one may guess there is a set of parameters for a series of years an
countries and for every combination there is a value.

Additionally to the countries there are some 'country groups' like U
recoded and listed as regular countries with year, parameter and valu
of course.

What I need to do is to make a table and a chart that will allow t
show what percentage of a 'country group' has particular country. Fo
example that is similar to calculating the percentage of the whole U
GDP generated by Germany.

Now I know how to do it by preparing a special table using MS Exce
function. But maybe you know a smarter automatic solution to this fo
example using pivot tables?

Remember I have to always compare countires specific year results wit
the corresponding year for the 'country group' (for exmaple UE GDP 196
and Germany GDP 1960).

Thanks in advance,

Micha

Not sure I totally understand, but if you build a pivot table and say have
the countries as a 'column field', you can then double click on the 'data'
header and select 'Options', you can set it to show as '% of column'. This
will show each countries % to the total.

Maybe this is what you want?

Yes, I did exactly what you suggest and % of column is almost grea
apart from the fact I need not a percent of total, but percentage t
one of the countries I choose :-(

If I take for example 'Europe' countries that include France
Germany, United Kingdom, Luxembourg etc. I'd like to have
possibility to set a 100% bechmark on one particular country I choos
(for example Germany) and then get the other countries results as
percentage of Germany's score.
