Pivot Selections LOST!

Can anyone tell me how to keep from losing my pivot selections? If I uncheck
show all and only select a few and then I want to view the items I was not
looking at they do not appearin the list! How can I keep all my selections
available if I only want to look at a subset for a given point in time.
Example:
The selection box says:
Show all
A
B
C
I uncheck show all and just select C. Then when I want to see A, the option
to select it is gone.

If you select an item when it is in a row and then move it to the page area,
the only item showing is the one selected. If you double click on the label
for that item it will show all the items with those not selected as hidden.
You can click on each one and unhide them or move the item back to the row
area and you'll be able to see them again.
