I use an NT 4.0 machine for e-mail and web browsing. Altho I reset the default home page whenever I start IE up or close it the default gets changed to about:blank. Then when IE is re-started it goes to a page with "Search for..." in the header (unidentified) which I do not want, and pops up annoying ads for spy-ware removal. This is infuriating.
I have tried Ad-aware and Spy-bot to no avail. I have tried upgarding from IE 5.5 to 6.0. I have tried installing the latest Windows patches. I have tried running a scan with CA anti-virus software. I have tried patching the registry as per an article on MSDN. All to no avail.
Anybody have any ideas? Is this a new one?
